Multiple users on social media platforms have condemned the national ODI selection of Faheem Ashraf by questioning both his current batting and the selection process.

Based on domestic cricket achievements since his previous ODI match Faheem obtained commendation from the board making him one of the most reliable players.
A PCB spokesperson explained that Faheem’s appearance in 34 ODI matches from September 2023 marked his last international match until he became one of the most constant performers in domestic cricket games across all formats.

Social media users condemned the decision to select Faheem through statements that described his selection as an “unfortunate” and “questionable” pick. Many spectators questioned the reason for Faheem Ashraf’s inclusion on the national team because his recent performance statistics lacked promising results.
National selector Asad Shafiq maintained the selection of Faheem Ashraf by noting his established experience with batting and his all-round abilities as an express fast bowler. The team now possesses a critical element of fast-bowling all-round options because of Faheem Ashraf’s selection according to Shafiq.

Faheem brought together an additional three players to the ODI roster as Pakistan worked to enhance its lineup for the major tournament. The team roster including Mohammad Rizwan Babar Azam Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Shah Afridi and other key players constitutes Pakistan’s squad for both the tri-nation series and ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
